Overview
A full day east to Tetouan — the Andalusian 'white dove' whose medina is a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and the Mediterranean beach town of Martil.
Tetouan sits below the Rif on the Mediterranean side of the north, about 60 km from Tangier. Rebuilt by Andalusian refugees from Spain, its compact white medina is one of the best preserved in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a strong craft tradition and a distinctly Hispano-Moorish character.
We drive over from Tangier, walk the medina with a local guide, see the Royal Palace square and the artisan school's work, then drop down to the coast at Martil for lunch and a stretch of Mediterranean beach before returning.

Frequently asked
Questions about this tour.
Why is Tetouan called Andalusian?
Tetouan was rebuilt from the 15th century onward largely by Muslims and Jews expelled from Andalusia in Spain. Its architecture, crafts and music carry that Hispano-Moorish heritage, which is why its medina feels distinct from Fes or Marrakech — and earned it UNESCO World Heritage status.
How far is Tetouan from Tangier?
About 60 km, roughly an hour by road. Adding the beach at Martil makes it a comfortable full-day trip rather than a half-day.
