Tangier Tours from Spain

Yes — this is exactly what most of our morning bookings are. Take the fast ferry from Tarifa to Tangier Ville (roughly one hour, docking in the city centre), and a private guide meets you at the port. A half-day walking tour of the kasbah and medina, or a drive to Cap Spartel and the Caves of Hercules, both fit comfortably between the morning and last-evening sailings with time for lunch. Take the fast catamaran from Tarifa to Tangier Ville — it is the only crossing that lands you in the city centre, a short walk from the medina, in about an hour. Crossings from Algeciras and most other ports go to Tanger Med, a freight port around 40 km east of the city, which adds a transfer at each end and shortens your time. For a tour day, Tarifa to Tangier Ville is the one to book.

At the exit of Tangier Ville passenger port, holding a sign with your name, once you have cleared Moroccan immigration. The port is a five-minute walk from the medina, so a walking tour can begin straight away. On the standard Tarifa schedule you usually land mid-morning and the last comfortable sailing back leaves in the early evening, giving roughly five to seven usable hours on the ground. That is enough for a half-day medina-and-kasbah walk plus lunch, or one driving excursion such as Cap Spartel and the Caves of Hercules. Chefchaouen is possible on the earliest crossing but makes for a long, full day — we will tell you honestly if your ferry times allow it.

Always bring your passport — Tangier is in Morocco, a non-EU country, so you leave Schengen and get a Moroccan entry stamp (an ID card is not enough). On the Tarifa fast ferry, border police usually stamp passports on board, so queue early. Morocco also generally runs one to two hours behind mainland Spain depending on the season and Ramadan, which catches people out. Your guide tracks both times so your tour ends with a safe buffer before the last boat.
